Wrinkles

Wrinkles are formed as a result of repeating the same expressions over time, thinning of the skin due to sun damage or loss of collage and elastin secondary to aging and sun damage.

Botox

Botox is a neurotoxin produced by Clostridium botulinum which in low concentrations can safely be used to reduce facial wrinkles. When botulinum toxin is injected, it blocks certain nerve signals that make muscles contract. The muscles relax, reducing unwanted wrinkles for a natural look. This effect lasts about 3-4 months. After that the muscles move again and the wrinkles come back.

Botox can decrease and prevent wrinkles in the following areas:

  • Glabellar lines between your brows

  • Forehead lines

  • Crow’s feet around your eyes

Microneedling

Microneedling is a minimally invasive procedure involving superficial and controlled puncturing of the skin by gliding a pen containing miniature needles. The micro-punctures creates micro-injuries that lead to minimal superficial bleeding and trigger a wound healing cascade with release of various growth factors which will result in new collagen formation and skin tightness. Microneedling works well for fine lines. In particular, it’s a very safe procedure in dark skin type due to low risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. The down time is minimal for microneedling.

Pre- and Post treatment care: sun protection and avoidance, avoid any type of exfoliation or chemical peels, and use of gentle skin moisturizer and facial wash to keep the skin calm and hydrated.

The new skin that goes back after a peel is smoother and younger looking so sun protection is required to maintain the new beautiful skin. A light chemical peel; removes the outer layer of the skin (epidermis) and a medium chemical peel removes skin cells from the epidermis and from portions of the upper part of the middle layer of the skin (dermis). Down time is minimal for a light peel and 1-2 days for a medium peel. Chemical peels can be used to treat fine wrinkles, acne scars, uneven skin tone and dryness.

Fractional Laser

Fractional laser is a device that delivers precise micro-beams of laser light to the lower layers of the skin creating deep narrow columns of tissue coagulation while leaving parts of the skin intact. Coagulated tissue in the treated area will stimulate a natural healing process that result in growth of healthy new tissue containing collagen and elastin. The procedure can be used on the face, neck, chest, arms, and hands. There is minimal discomfort and 1-2 days of downtime with the treatment . The results are long lasting but a series of treatments may be required to achieve the desired results. Fractional laser treatments are effective for fine lines.
